I never thought this would be the first book I would publish. It all started with the purchase of a vintage Underwood at a garage sale and will soon turn into a book available for purchase. The pages are scans of vintage papers I have collected and then typed quotes on. Volume 1 will be available this fall. I am so excited!!!
I rarely recommend books to anyone. I always have this fear that they will spend a few days of their life reading a book I told them about and absolutely hate it. Then blame me for wasting three days of their life.
“I missed out on a “Golden Girls” marathon thanks to you and your stupid book. You have such taste for shit.”
So I am really stepping out on a limb here. You must put down your cocktail and jump in the family mobile and race to your nearest bookstore and pick up, “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn.
The story is based on a married couple that has to move from New York City to Missouri, due to hard times and a family illness. The husband runs a bar there purchased with his wife’s money (her family has money because of a book series her parents wrote). Nick and Amy were five years into their marriage when one day, Amy goes missing and it doesn’t look good.
There are so many twists and turns in this book it will make your head spin. You will not want to put the book down. Then when you finish it you will think to yourself, “Can there really be people out there that nuts?”
It truly blows my mind how the author put all this together. It makes my head hurt thinking about it.
So if you are looking for the next book to read this summer…it has to be this one. I don’t think you will be disappointed. But if you are, just forever blame me for your wasted hours that could have been spent on Pinterest.
I will admit I read it. Not many women will, but that’s OK. If you haven’t heard about the book “50 Shades of Grey” by E.L. James you must be living under a rock. The hottest book on the planet right now…even hotter than those “Hunger Games” books.
The book basically tells the tale of a college student that has an affair with a man that is super rich, super hot and well, a little on the naughty side.
I decided to start the book the day my mom was to go into the hospital for surgery. I was in the waiting room reading away when I heard a man behind me say, “Miss, I am Reverend Michael and I would like to pray for you and your family.”
My head whipped around faster than old Linda Blair’s did in “The Exorcist”. Thank God (yes, I promise I will get back in a church soon) he was talking to the woman directly behind me. I just knew he had been standing behind me reading this filth the whole time.
When I saw this little video Ellen made, I knew I had to share. Just made me laugh a little too much. Enjoy!
I have loved to read since I was a little girl. Back then the Nancy Drew and Judy Blume books rocked my world.
Looking back over the years, I realized I have done more reading for fun instead of reading to learn something or better myself. In the past few years, I have started reading a few books that could possibly improve me as a person and smarten me up a bit. I think this is a good thing and something I would like to do more of.
So I have decided to try something out. For the next 365 days, I am going to read at least 10 pages from a book per day that will inspire me, teach me, motivate me or just improve me in some way. There will be no excuses, no “I got home too late tonight” or “I had such a hard day at work and I just cannot keep my eyes open any longer.” Nope, this is going to happen every single day. If I happen to read more than 10 pages…great. But I will read at least the 10 pages.
I would love for you all to join me in my adventure. What’s the worst that could happen? I suppose reading might interfere with an episode of “Jersey Shore” but come on people…that stuff is just rotting your brains. I am a big fan of G.T.L. though. Pure genius.
I am curious to see what kind of person I will be 365 days from now. Will I have a new job? Will I raise my I.Q. 10 points? Will I make more money? Will I inspire others? I can’t wait to find out.
Today I will start this adventure with “Do You” by Russell Simmons. Yes, the record label mogul Russell Simmons. I have heard good things about this book so thought I would check it out.
Let me know what you think…will you join me or do I need to show up at your house and twist your arm? Don’t put it past me people!
