I have been blogging since 2006. I know what you are thinking…it’s hard to believe I am not a superstar by now. I feel ya.
Back in those days I started out writing a sports blog. I am extremely passionate about sports and wanted to try to put a funny spin on sports stories. However, I found I was not really that passionate when it came to writing about sports. Watching yes, writing no. So I shut it down (technically the blog still exists but I don’t post anything anymore).
After much debate, I decided to start a blog called “The White Oprah”. This was in January of 2011. The blog would be about me, funny stories I found on the internet and some of my favorite things. I LOVED this blog with all my heart. It was so much fun telling funny stories and sharing my life with others. But then Oprah’s people found me and threatened to send Gayle to beat my ass so I had to shut it down.
And so I created One Happy Pill, mainly because I love my meds and it would explain why some of my stories are just nuts.
When creating White Oprah and Happy Pill I looked to other blogs
to steal their ideas in order to have some insight on what makes a blog so popular.
There were three ladies
I stole from the most I learned so very much from.
The Bloggess.com–I don’t get why people think she is so funny but I learned other things from her, so it’s all good. She started as a blogger and now has a best-selling book.
TraceyGarvisGraves.com–Also started as a blogger and has one best-selling book (that has been optioned to be a movie…read “On The Island” when you get a chance) and another book just released.
Feel-like-complaining.blogspot.com–I loved her blog design, the use of the funny cartoons and her sense of humor. Denise has become a blogger friend of mine and hopefully one of these days we will get to meet in person.
The most important thing I learned from these ladies is it is ok to curse (Denise not so much, but the other two use the f-word and other profanities frequently). They also showed me to just be yourself which is another reason I curse in my blog posts. I am not an “oh shucky darn, a truck just ran over my buttocks” kind of girl.
I write the way I talk. That is how I was taught to write and the best way I find to communicate my point. So I will issue an apology if anything I have said has ever offended you but if you keep coming back here you are just cruising for huge disappointment because I doubt I ever change the way I do things around here. My bad. Now skedaddle please (especially the lady that commented my letter to Billy Ray Cyrus blog was “disgusting”…PULEEESSEE BEYOTCH!)
My poor mother is hugely disappointed I am sure. But I think if cursing is the worst thing I have ever done to cause you any stress, then you have a freaking awesome kick-ass kid and should bake her cookies, make her bed and massage her feet every single day for the rest of your life because frankly, you got off easy. I could have turned out like this chick…
